Gruppo 2003 per la ricerca scientifica [a scientific research group formed in 2003] has announced the second edition of the Premio Giovani Ricercatori Italiani, an Italian Young Scientist Award that it runs with Fondazione Bracco. The object of the award is to encourage research work and raise institutional and public awareness of the presence in Italy of a new generations of scientists who constitute a precious resource for the future of our country.
The current period has taught us to appreciate even more than before the crucial importance of scientific research and its ability to make a difference in our lives. Accordingly, Gruppo 2003 decided that in addition to bestowing honours on the best research projects being done by young people working in Italy across diverse scientific areas, this second edition will also reserve a special prize for the best research on the Covid-19 pandemic.
The awards are divided into nine categories: the Environment; Food and Nutrition; Biomedicine and Drugs; Oncology; Artificial Intelligence and Big Data; Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science; Astrophysics and Space; Engineering; Covid-19.
Any young scientist working for an Italian research institution is eligible to forward their project for consideration (see Rules below).
The award, organized with the participation of CNR, receives support from Fondazione Bracco (whose contribution is earmarked for female entrants), Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (the National Institute of Astrophysics), Associazione italiana per la Ricerca sul cancro (the Italian Association for Cancer Research), Chiesi Farmaceutici (a drug company) and Barilla (a food company).
