“Progetto-Diventerò mondo” presented at First Conference of Italian Schools abroad
“Progetto-Diventerò mondo,” a youth education and training support project with an international scope was presented on Monday, 14 April 2025 at the prestigious first Conference of Italian Schools Abroad, which took place at the auditorium of MAXXI – The National Museum of 21st Century Arts under the auspices of Office 5 of the Directorate General of Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The project seeks to encourage conversation among Italian schools situated outside Italy along with the sharing of good practices, and to increase educational and training opportunities by setting up networks, including public-private partnerships.
This inaugural edition of Progetto-Diventerò nel mondo was presented by Francesca Lambertucci, Scientific Events Manager at Fondazione Bracco, who explained that the project promotes both scientific culture and gender equality in STEM, using the Italian language as a bridge between the cultures of the countries where the schools are located. The project, officially launched on 18 December 2024 with the signing of the agreement between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani and the Chair of the Foundation, Diana Bracco, brought together 11 schools (including four state-licensed private schools). All told, more than 390 pupils from 21 classes are taking part.
The participating Italian state schools abroad are located in Addis Ababa, Athens, Barcelona, Istanbul, Madrid, Paris and Zurich. The private schools licensed by the state to teach the national curriculum are located in Algiers, Cairo, Lima, Sao Paulo, Johannesburg, Belo Horizonte, Buenos Aires, Casablanca, Caracas and elsewhere.
The Conference was also an important opportunity to present the Network of Italian Private Schools Abroad (“scuole paratarie”) and to explore post-matriculation opportunities for school-leavers with the participation of Italian universities and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), and the Ministry of Instruction and Merit (MIM).
