Photographic exhibition “Colpo di scene. Dalla A di attrezzista alla S di scultrice”
A photographic exhibition called "Colpo di scene. Dalla A di attrezzista alla S di scultrice” is taking place on 30 January-30 June 2024 on the premises of Centro Diagnostico Italiano (Via Saint Bon 20) in Milan. Conceived and promoted by the Bracco Foundation in collaboration with Accademia Teatro alla Scala, the exhibition offers a behind-the-scenes look at the world of the stage.
Through it we find out not only about some of the most unusual professions that exist in the world of entertainment, but also that some of the “prop masters” and other behind-the-scenes jobs traditionally associated with men are now being done by young women.
Prop master, lighting technician, orchestra teacher, stage manager, photographer, carpenter, sound designer, sculptor, costume designer and set designer are just some of the professions exercised by Accademia Teatro alla Scala graduates whose everyday work is a practical refutation of gender stereotypes, which sadly persist in the professional world.
The exhibition, an engaging combination of words and images from four photographers who are also graduates of the academy, allows the behind-the-scenes workers to take centre stage for once.
In supporting female empowerment, the Bracco Foundation is pursuing clear strategic objectives: to highlight the talents of women in various professional fields; to encourage a new awareness among young people by offering them equality of access to knowledge and opportunities; and, finally, to promote cultural change.
The Bracco Foundation is a founding member and main partner of Accademia Teatro alla Scala, one of the most prestigious music and theatre schools in the world. The dual objective of the partnership is to foster cultural growth while giving young people an opportunity to develop their talents.
Since 2011, the Bracco Foundation has been backing projects to bring culture and the possibility of its enjoyment into health care settings. In addition to promoting research work and knowledge-sharing symposiums, it has worked hand-in-hand with CDI-Centro Diagnostico Italiano in setting up art exhibitions in the belief, supported by scientific evidence, that the presence of art and culture in a given setting improves the quality of life of those who occupy it.
