Science & Technology

“We all share the one origin; we are all children of the evolution of the universe and stars; so, really, we are all brothers and sisters.”  Margherita Hack

Scientific knowledge and technological applications permit us to understand the evolution of that which surrounds us, to imagine different futures, and to build a sustainable planet, as envisaged in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. A salient feature of the current and future world of work is the increasing demand for STEM professionals.

Paola Santini, a researcher at the Astronomical Observatory of Rome (part of the National Institute for Astrophysics, INAF) and Giulia Grancini, associate professor of Physical Chemistry and director of the PVsquared2 research group at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Pavia joined pupils in the classroom to inspire them with stories of their own schooling, further education and career paths, and to share some memories of the difficulties, fears, and successes that they met along with way.

Under the moderation of Serena Giacomin, the pupils enjoyed a chance to interact directly with experts to discover interesting curiosities in the field of Science and Technology and find out about the professional opportunities it can offer them.
