Monday, October 6, 2014 at 6:30 PM at the Teatrino Di Palazzo Visconti in Milan is an important appointment in the cycle Bracco Foundation Meets on the topic of prevention for women, entitled “Iodine, nutrition in pregnancy: a project for life”.
Taking part in the event will be two important guests: Lewis E. Braverman, one of the leading experts on iodine in the thyroid, and Irene Cetin, Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Luigi Sacco Hospital and president of the Italian Society of perinatal medicine
The lack of iodine, and also of other micronutrients, and more generally problems with the thyroid during pregnancy can decisively compromise the development of the fetus. Science demonstrates this, but is account taken of it in practice?
We will be speaking of the thyroid and how it works, of a correct diet before, during and after pregnancy, and of the latest progress in research, also to demolish false myths. The topic will be explored in greater depth in the programme of scientific events at the Italian Pavilion during Expo 2015.
