The Bracco Foundation accompanied the Accademia Teatro alla Scala on the US trip to the two metropolises of Chicago and Washington, to celebrate the Year of Italian Culture in the United States.

The young soloists and musicians of the Orchestra of the Accademia crossed the ocean, led by Maestro Daniele Rustioni, born in 1983: one of the most successful directors of his generation. The ensemble of budding talents performed first in Chicago and then, on 4th of December 2013, in front of the audience at the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda (Washington) with a tribute repertoire to the heritage of Italian opera. The programme included overtures and arias from the best known works of Gioacchino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti, Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini, and a foray into film music with the symphonic interpretation of the score by Nino Rota for "La strada" (The Road) by Federico Fellini.

The first American tour of the Accademia della Scala was promoted and organised with the support of the Bracco Foundation, Main Partner of the Accademia alla Scala.

The evening of the 4th December was filmed by cameras from SKY Classica, which had added "Talents!" to its weekly schedule, a documentary covering 38 episodes dedicated exclusively to the young students of the Academy.
